March 2010 Sales Tip

Q: Why does a WETSTYLE soaking bathtub, vessel sink or lavatory in a TRUE HIGH GLOSS finish glisten or shine more than other composite products?

A: It is a bit of a story but there are primarily two reasons why a WETMAR™ product from WETSYLE is so shiny. First is due to the quality and care of the moulds. To achieve a high shine and brilliant lustre WETSTYLE moulds from which its bathtubs, vessel sinks and lavatories are produced must be in immaculate condition. Next, the moulds are polished and waxed by hand upon each use to further elevate their mirror like shine to ensure this is passed on to the surface of the part being produced.

The second factor is the effort that goes into hand finishing the product. After the moulding process, your customer’s product goes through two finishing steps. One is rough finishing and then it is on to fine finishing where it spends a considerable portion of its production life.

In fine finishing, the goal is to ensure each part receives a FIVE STAR FINISH.

What is a FIVE STAR FINISH? We won’t bore with you too much technical detail but a WETSTYLE bathtub can spend form 3-6 hours going through a 5 step process of sequential sanding, polishing and waxing to ensure all blemishes, scratches and possible imperfections are addressed. The result is a mirror like shine and a super glossy product that we call a TRUE HIGH GLOSS finish. Other folks producing composite bathroom fixtures that are more volume oriented generally extract the part from the mould and then give it a quick once or twice over before sending it out the door. The WETSTYLE FIVE STAR FINISH ensures each part delivered is blemish free and has a mirror like shine. When producing a high shine part, one must be committed to quality as it is difficult to hide flaws in high gloss.
